Summer Camp - Around the Moon
Here’s a cheeky one for you. A refreshing new band who have an elusive air about them, seeing as hardly anybody knows who they are! Some guess from Chicago, others Sweden, however this boy- girl duo are from London.
Visit their myspace (www.myspace.com/summercampmusic) and you’ll find no photos of them, only outdated photos taken from who knows where, summer camp maybe? It makes me like them even more, having to make an effort to find out who Summer Camp are, and this video for song ‘Around the Moon’ gives only a snippet away- their names.
Elizabeth Sankey and Jeremy Warmsley are lo-fi 80’s synth band Summer Camp, making songs with a nostalgic twist, and this brilliant video, taken from Swedish film ‘A Swedish Love Story’ made me feel all fuzzy inside when I watched it. Aah young love.
Expect Summer Camp to extend their season to all-year-round camp, as a tour with Frankie & The Heartstrings is on its way, as well as performing at Reading & Leeds, Bestival and Green Man.
Favourite line: ‘And we danced all night and we held each other tight, until the morning light.’
