Interview with Maps & Atlases
I interviewed the lovely Dave from Maps & Atlases ahead of their first date of their UK tour at the Bodega. Hear what Dave had to say about what to expect if you catch them on their tour, and why it took 7 years for them to feel ready to release their debut album.
The interview went really well as Dave was very sweet and open to all questions, and it’s safe to say that’s the first interview I’ve done crouching down in the dressing room as if we were hiding from something! The gig itself was brilliant, with Daves’ voice piercing through the crowd in such a distinctive way that I had goosebumps throughout. The band looked so comfortable with each other, and the intimacy of the Bodega made the gig feel like the audience were watching them jam in their garage or something. Songs like ‘Solid Ground’, ‘Living Decorations’ and opener ‘Pigeon’ put an instant smile on my face, but it’s just a shame that some of the crowd weren’t as energetic as they could have been. Maps & Atlases are a band that deserve only good recognition, and I hope that with the release of their debut album ‘Perch Patchwork’ they get it.
