KEXP- A radio station that has taken my heart.
I’ve found a gem of a radio station here on the wonderful interweb, the brilliant KEXP, based in Seattle. Offering more than listening live, I’m more interested in the sessions that they do, and the amazing artists that they get involved to do them. Searching through years 2001 to now, the range of artists to do acoustic sessions is phenomenal, and I found myself gasping and having that excited feeling as I found more and more of my favourite songwriters and bands, especially off the radar ones such as Voxtrot and Beirut. Most are audio, however their youtube channel shows some brilliant footage of the sessions as well. Particular favourites are in the list below, and I can safely say that I haven’t been this excited about a find like this in quite some time. Being the Head of Music for Fly FM this year, KEXP has given me the ambition to push Fly FM forward in terms of sessions, as you cannot beat a stripped down live version of your favourite song! www.kexp.org is my new all time favourite website. As Steve Brule says, CHECK IT OUT! And while you’re doing so, listen to these particular beauties with your ears.
