Maps & Atlases- Pigeon
Now, forgive me if you’re reading this and thinking ‘woh Jaye up your game these guys have been going for years!’, but I’ve only just been introduced to the mighty Maps & Atlases; (What’s 6 years between friends?!). A four piece from Chicago who have toured with the likes of Foals, this band certainly deserve to be up there with the big boys with this song, Pigeon.
This is math-rock with an African calypso twist, the catchy guitar riffs (and is that a xylophone I hear?) merge brilliantly with Dave Davison’s distinctive voice, making you want to play Pigeon on repeat and purchase their album, Perch Patchwork.
Favourite lyric: ’ And whos side are you on, there’s no-one here but me.’
